Most schools in The Gambia are short of the basic necessities. This can be illustrated by the case of a Head who asked for a packed of pencils which he could then cut into four to give his pupils a pencil.

There is a desperate need for stationery, pens, pencils, rulers, exercise books etc. as most schools rely on rote learning as they do not have these basic materials. Even chalk is a much sought after commodity in the schools.

Early reading books, still in good condition, suitable for the school libraries. If possible these should be packed in easily handled boxes with some idea of the contents.

Stacking tables and chairs, with metal legs and which are still in good condition are also sought if within a reasonable distance of Congleton.

Sports equipment such as footballs, rounders or baseball equipment etc, together with football strips are all prized possessions in The Gambia.

For the older student learning a trade is extremely valuable therefore we are always on the look out for hand cranked sewing machines, vices ( woodworking or metal) clamps, chisels etc.
